Developed in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, Gamblin's Gamvar Matte Picture Varnish saturates the colours in your oil paintings and gives your work a unified, Matte finish protective surface. Gamvar Matte is virtually odourless and can be safely removed with Gamsol Mineral Spirits. This superior quality Matte picture varnish dries to a matte sheen & enhances the depth of colour in your paintings. Gamvar may be brush applied when the painting is dry to the touch and firm in its thickest areas. For some oil paintings, that might take two weeks, for others, 2 months. To check if it’s dry, gently press your nail into the thickest part of your painting.
